What makes Free the Powder Gloves different (and better)?

FOCUS ON BREATHABILITY SO YOUR HANDS STAY WARM AND DRY

Using highly breathable materials allows us to use more insulation, thicker shell materials and thicker, reinforced leather. This makes our gloves warmer, tougher and prevents hand sweats, drastically increasing the range of temperatures in which you can wear your gloves comfortably.

The Palm: we use soft, breathable cowhide leather, water-proofed with fatliqours instead of silicone-sealed rigid leather that is used in most ski gloves.
The Shell: we use ultra-breathable 4-Way stretch softshell material that is water-proof. This woven nylon is highly durable, quick drying and much more breathable than the hardshell material used in most ski gloves. When we use leather on the shell, we use the same breathable leather as the palm.
The Liner: we use Breathefil™ insulation, Free the Powder’s special blend of synthetic fibers that maximizes breathability. We also offer our X series of gloves and mittens that have removable liners, which are super-fast drying and machine washable.

FOCUS ON TOUGHNESS SO YOUR GLOVES LAST LONGER

To ensure we make a really tough glove, we design and field test our gloves to stand up to the rigors of backcountry skiing and Ski Patrol work in the Wasatch Range of Utah.

The Leather: we use Free the Powder’s special formula, drum dyed cowhide leather that's thicker. In addition, we add a reinforcement leather patch to protect the high-wear areas of the palm.
The Shell: we use thicker, stretchy softshell that is really tough, the best nylon thread, high-end nylon webbing at all attachment points, and reinforced double stitching wherever possible. When we use all-leather, it's even tougher.
The Liner: we offer removable liners that are tough enough that you’ll be able to wear them by themselves on hot days. Plus, you’ll be able to bring them back to life and make them like-new by throwing them in the washing machine.

FOCUS ON DEXTERITY FOR OPTIMUM GRIP ON YOUR GEAR

The real challenge in making a better glove is not compromising dexterity when the glove uses construction and materials that are really warm and really tough. This is how we do it:

Use of non-rigid materials: we use all-stretchable materials that break in substantially and conform to your hand, so it will feel like the gloves were made custom for you.
Use of breathable materials: when your hands are dry you’ll have better grip and dexterity.
Use of leather that is tanned to be soft and supple.
Use of “thin” dense insulation that retains excellent warmth, without compromising dexterity.

We founded Free the Powder to offer products of the quality and price that we ourselves had searched for, but never found. We achieved this goal by controlling costs and selling our gloves direct to you online. We do not sell to middlemen and ski shops.
